Did my last Janathon Run for 2014.
and I am very happy that I completed the thirty day challenge.
I am not a good writer or blogger,; Janathon was a great test . It also gave me the motivation to get out an do my runs in frigid weather and to do a daily post.
It's a good thing to do.
my plans are to continue training - i am entered in 2 runs in April
the Harry Rosen 8K and the and the Toronto Yonge Street 10K
would love to hear from other bloggers. on fb, google or blogger.

January 30 Thursday
Late afternoon went for my run.
Ran slowly, and completed a 5.75K run. I was tired and have lots stuff on my mind- and the two factors slowed me down.
A fair amount of snow has fallen over the past couple of days,and the roads and streets are not clear.
One more day left in Janathon. Till then.

Day off from running. Spending a quiet day getting caught up on the non running life side of my life.
there is a great new ( at least i think its new_ ) Budeweiser Super Bowl Ad featuring the famous horses. Clydesdale and Puppy Ad.

Janathon 28 - happy with my run
Its has been snowing since early afternoon. Walked to Starbucks on lower Princess Street, had a Grande Dark Roast Coffee and "double Chocolate Brownie". Walked home - i should get my run in . the snow was getting heavier. And my plan is to run longer. Not easy as the sidewalks were filling up from the new snow. Did an 8K run and very happy as the conditions were difficult.
Next feed my cat, and have supper. Tonight - having Swiss steak - Been defrosting since noon.
Three more days for Janathon. Have not missed a day or post yet. Keeping my fingers crossed i can do the next three days.
Have ordered a book from Indigo - Once A Runner. (Canadian online Bookstore).
In general the book has good reviews.
Have a nice night everyone.

Walk and Snow Shoe Hike
Dressed in layers and carrying my snow shoes, walked to Portsmouth Harbor.
Put on my snow shoes and followed a snowy path along the edge of the lake, hiking over to Lake Ontario Park. I had to make my own path alon the shore . .. Over the last 24 hrs we have had a heavy snow fall and high wind resulting snow drifts .
i hiked over to the road entrance to the Catarqui Golf Club , and then headed back along the path i had made.
once i got back to King Street , took off my snow shoes and walked home.
the sky was clear and it was cold -12C, The lake is frozen. There were a couple of brave people were about 200 meters off shore on the ice and appeared to be ice fishing. they had a drilled a hole in the ice.
Unfortunatley i forgot my camera at home. thinking i may go back to tomorrow and try to take a few pics.

Weather conditions - light snow, overcast and -13C
Roads are snow covered and i had to be careful and on the lookout for icy patches.
As I run facing the traffic, its not easy running .
Pleased with the run 5.48K and my effort.
I need to increase the distance of my runs. this must be my goal for the next few weeks.

Day 25 - 8K Walk
Happy to report I have blogged everyday - Keeping my fingers crossed I can blog for 7 more days.
No running today. Big snow fall. Decided that it would risky to run with the snow plows ploughing everywhere.
Walked approx. 8K.
Tonight - Staying home and watching TV and taking it easy. Hamburger and salad for supper , tea
and desert and snacks - chocolate & tinned peaches .

Run - snow squall and light wind
Training Run - 7.54K snow squall and light wind at 17:00 hrs. Happy to be home and have supper in the oven.
Yesterday , i took a tumble and banged my right knee. Ripped my outer nylon pants. Due to the cold was also wearing heavy sweat pants and thermal underwear... When i got home and looked at my knee - realized i had hit the ice hard.
Had to Ice my knee and apply Polysporin. The first aid seems to have worked as I was able to run this evening.
time for supper - made a casserole. ORANGE CHICKEN AND RICE BAKE .Cliff Bar, tea and Yogurt.

7.55 Run and 3K Walk
Happy with training efforts today. 7.55 Run and 3K Walk.
I am taking antibiotics 4x day for 7 days. Was concerned the Meds might carry a down side.
So far, good, I started today - at day 1.
Still cold here, a frosty -17C.
Seems there will be no let up for at least 2 weeks. More snow and more cold Artic air.
I have to get the training done.
Time to feed my cat and prepare supper. Tonight - pizza and salad, fruit and biscuits and tea.
I am a fan of Lady Grey tea.
Then some paper work and TV. and Sleep.

Cold Weather Run -21C
Got my run in . Very happy, as we are in a deep freeze and the Weather Channel is forecasting more cold and snow.
Dressed with layers . Beginning with thermal underwear and a wrap around my face. Ran a shade over 5K. I need to increase the distance I run . That has to be my goal for the next couple of weeks.

Janathon Day 20 - Walking
Went out early this morning and did a long walk (dog walk) 8K.
this afternoon walked to one of my favorite coffee shops. had a light lunch and walked home. 5k

Sunday January 19
20:40 pm. And its time to get Janathon post 19 online.. .
Decided today would be a day off from running. However, I did get in a 4 mile dog walk . I am looking after a Black Labrador Retriever.., named Ben .. . He is scheduled to go home late tomorrow. Lots of fun as i have a cat and she likes to aggravate him.
Took Ben for a 4 mile walk around 6pm.
Its a dark night and most people in my area, have left their Christmas lights up. My lights are still up. they seem to provide warmth and energy on these long and cold winter nights. Temperature is scheduled to drip to -10C tonight.
Check back tomorrow.

Snow Shoe Hike
Day 18. I am counting the days. This is not a good omen .
We had a fair amount of snow this morning. THE WEATHER CHANNEL. Decided snow shoe hiking would be better than trying to do a run. Think i was right. spent and 1.5 hours hiking . Did some runs , mostly 75m - 100m, Pleased with my workout.
Still have my Christmas tree and lights up. Tree must come down tomorrow. Thinking the lights should stay up as they provide a warm atmosphere in my apt.
Time to feed Tuffie, my cat and
heat up my supper. Swiss steak , Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Left overs from a couple of evenings ago.
The daughter of one of my friends writes a very respected Tennis blog. Check it out. Its very, very good. GOTOTENNIS

Ran at 5:30PM . it was dark - pitch black., Very happy i had a reflector band on my right leg.

Almost at the half way point in Janathon 2014.
5pm went for my run. 5.2 K
not easy running as its dark at 5pm and lots of traffic - people going home for supper. And the sidewalks are still icy. . Its slow going .

Lunch Hour Slow Run
Ran at noon hour. My usual run time is between 4 and 5PM. The run felt different. I was tired and felt sluggish. My body reacted to the change .
This was a slow run. Distance 7.5 K. The only good thing i can say about the run is that i am increasing my distance. the runs are getting longer.
And increasing the distance of my runs is my priority or goal for the next few weeks.
Off to the mall to browse at running shoes and running gear.

Flu Shot followed by a short run
Went to my MD 's clinic this morning and had my flu vaccination. Lots of people are getting the flu And Flu shots are recommended.
Late afternoon, did a slow run walk. Roads are very messy and hazardous with ice .
Hoping tomorrow will be a more interesting day.

Feeling Tired
I had a bad sleep last night.Woke up this morning feeling very tired - and with low energy levels. Time to have a slow day to recover my strength. Walked over to ARC and had a light snack. bagel(sun dried tomato- very good) and coffee. Then walked to the Kingston Center and did some grocery shopping, then headed home.Map the walk at 7.39K. Planning to stay home and rest . TV and the usual reading and puttering about my apt.
I am taking it easy for the rest of the day.
Cold weather running does take its toll on your body and psyche.

Conditions -Wet snow and puddles and ice. Tired , but i managed a short run 4.47K.

Busy day. Did my run in the late afternoon (16:30). Not as cold today. the streets and sidewalks are still icy with snow .
- Running is not easy. I am happy with today's 8K run.
Mygoals are to increase my distance- with daily longer runs
Janathon is good motivator for me. Its helping me to complete my daily runs and read other posts from other runners... . If i had not signed on- it seems likely that I would have skipped a few days - given the deep freeze that we have been experiencing in eastern Canada.

Today - I Walked 9.58K
Extreme cold . icey roads and sidewalks. I decided i was not up to running in these conditions. Dressed for the weather and walked to Portsmouth Olympic Harbor , had a light Snack at Tim Hortons. then walked to Loblaws, bought some fruits, chicken and vege. , and on home. Distance walked 9.58K

January in Kingston, ON
Content with this run and very happy to get home. The
sidewalks are solid ice and I had to run with the traffic due to the sidewalks
being closed .
Pleased with this run. My distance training has
lagged due to the cold and ice and road conditions and weather we are experiencing.
I live in Canada ----and I should expect it during January
and February- It’s part of being Canadian.

Run to Lululemon Yoga Class
Sunday mornings , I have been going yoga at Lululemon in Kingston. We are fortunate in Kingston that Lululemon offers a free class on Sunday mornings. The classes are lead by the excellent yoga teachers who live in our fair city. Yoga seems to be very good me. It allows me to clear my mind and thinking.
Dressed warmly and (with my yoga shorts- Underneath) sweatpants, nylon pants, 2 sweaters and a warm short zipper jacket) I jogged down Princess Street to Lululemon. Took the 1 hr class with Dallas. And enjoyed the chatter and snacks afterwards. - this morning my favorite chocolate balls called "Cinnamon Girls" were among the goodies on hand . Walked home Distance 5K return. Breakfast.
Usually, Sundays are not running days.
Planning to watch TV, NFL football and maybe a basketball game later today.., And I need to pick up a few things at the grocery store.

RUN to Metta Yoga class
Early run to Marriot hotel to the Metta Yoga event and a 9AM class with Dallas .
class was an excellent. Gentle yoga and I was able to stretch out tightness from this weeks running.
Walked home . 6K round trip.

Janthon Day 2 - very cold in Canada
decided not to run. its too cold and with the wind chill -33.
