31 January and last day of Janathon


Earlier in the day. walked downtown to a good Coffee shop, had a coffee and  then walked back  home. . Distance 5.54K.

Late afternoon 16:00  I ran 5.14K.   Its was cold. 
Feeling tired, ran at a slower than usual pace. temperature is -16C, but feels like -19C.
Its the last day of January and I hope winter is on its way out. 
The winter of 2015 and the very cold weather has gotten to me. 
My Janathon has come to an end. I am happy that  I finished it. But I had problems motivating myself to record what I did. Unfortunately, I did not write about other thinks in my life.

Friday Janathon Day 29

Went to a Yoga Class at Studio 330 at 5:30 PM.  Class was led by Ashley.   It was excellent. 
 Lots of walking, shopping and to the Yoga  class. Outside temperature is -15C, (feels like -22C. Feel very lucky to have a warm home and good food.  Distance walked 8K.

Janathon Day 29 .

 Today was not a good day. Disappointed in myself. 
 No running.. I walked downtown and back home (7K).  Felt tired and no energy.  Snowing heavily at the moment.   hoping tomorrow will be better.  I need to  get back on track  and run 5 days a week.  

Bought a book at a bookstore sale. Blisters and Bliss.  The book is a Trekkers Guide to the West Coast Trail in BC. 
 Recently read a good book - The Cellist of Sarajevo- Steven Galloway. (Canadian). And I recommend it.
On my night table - Down and Out in Paris and London- George Orwell.

Janathon Day 27-18

e days are getting longer and also colder. 
Got my run in the late afternoon.  Distance 7.09K

We missed the NY state snowstorm, but it's cold. -10C and feels-like -18C

5 more days to go in Janathon. It has been good for me.. there have been many late afternoons cold  and snowy, and I  probably would have passed, not done my run. However the challenge provided me with the incentive to get dressed and go for my run.  


I have been thinking about switching to Wordpress. It seems to more complicated to use than Blogger. however, the blogs are nicer. 


Enjoying a Stella Artois beer as i write this post.  Time to sign off and cook my  supper.

Today's run 7.84 K. Ran late afternoon around 17:00hrs.
Temperature was a balmy -4C roads and sidewalks were icy and slippy. 
Happy to get home without falling. 

Late morning walked downtown. Had a coffee and a muffin.
 Read the Globe and Mail.
Think I should get a subscription to the  Saturday edition. 
  Would be cheaper than going to Starbucks.

Thursday and Friday Janathon 22 and 23

Thursday went to a 1 hour  Power Yoga Class at Studio 330. at 17:30.
Walked to the class and back home  8K.

Friday   did a training run .6.11K.  temperature was -3C.  Not easy running as the sidewalks are icy and 
lots of snow banks.

January 21 and Janathon 21

 Few days ago, I bought a new running shoes - Mizuno Wave Riders. Bought online  - as the price is a little lower.   Picked  them up this afternoon. I have been wearing them around my apt. Happy, they fit okay.  

The cold weather is starting to get me down. You have to accept the cold in winter. It goes with living in Canada and being Canadian. 
Early Afternoon, I walked to Starbucks. read the newspaper and had a coffee and muffin. The walk was 6K. 

Today's run - 5.65 K in the late afternoon. Felt tired and sluggish. But, I got a run in. 
Present Temperature is -11C and feels-like -16C

Sunday January 18 and Monday Jan. 19

Janathon Day 16 and 17.
Sunday (16),  I curled for 2 hours at a local curling club. Had a nice time  on Sunday.  Happy, one of the guys gave me a lift home as the weather was terrible.

Today, Monday (17), I put in a good run 5.48K and I did a 6K walk.

20:40 - Its a black night and cold. Temperature is -10C, 
Fitness activity today was  Yoga at Studio 330. 
Went to the 17:30 class Hour of Power Yoga  at Studio 330 led by Ashley. 
First time I have been to Power Yoga.. A one-hour class.  My first Power Yoga class. 
And it was far physically strenuous than other classes I have taken.
 It certainly was the right class for me today. A great class.

Did not run today. Temperature dropped to -17C (feels like -22C). 
I walked in the cold -  Out and back  route 10.3K. 

I need to run or do some other form of exercise that gives the same training effect as running. 
The forecast for tomorrow is colder than today.

Monday Junathon 12

Today's Run Distance:6.19 km
 Weather conditions cold and Very Damp.  The  temperature is dropping quickly. With the wind, it's brutally cold running. Happy, I got the run in early. 

Took two days Saturday and Sunday off from running. Sunday I curled for 2 hrs and walked home from the Curling Club.

Tom Brown died on Saturday night. He lived two apartments down from me. Dedicated today's run to him.

Sunday January 11

I have taken up the sport of Curling. Today is my curling Day. every Sunday afternoon, I curl from 4-6pm. This is a new sport for me. 
I am enrolled in Curling U3. learn to Curl. Every Sunday since Mid-October and onto the beginning of April I curl. 
We do warm-ups, drills,  practice  sweeping and throwing rocks.  And we play practice games. 
We have a coach and our group of approx 10 -12 is made up of guys and gals..  So far, I am enjoy curling.

After our Curling session,  I walked back home  .Distance  5k,
 Back to running tomorrow. .

No running today. Walked downtown  had a hot Chocolate and walked  back  home.

January weather walk and run.

 Howling winds and cold -6C. with the wind and blowing snow, it felt like -16C. Have a look at our weather  via the weather channel.
 Walked down and back  to Starbucks - had a latte and read the Globe and Mail newspaper. 
Was great as there were very few customers - probably because of the weather. This is a 4.65 km walk.

 Run  Distance  5.3 K. I did not time the run. The running conditions were difficult. Snow covered roads and sidewalks - blowing snow. Happy that I pushed myself to dress for the storm.  Very happy to be home. Time to sign of - feed my cat , have supper , TV and some reading.

I did a good run this afternoon. Conditions were not the best.  Blowing snow and a cold -8C. The forecast for the next few days is " Extreme Cold Warning ".

I have had enough of Garmin. It is too time-consuming to upload to their website. I have become very impatient with the way they do things. I have decided to go back to using Map My Run.

January 4 (Sunday Curling)

  Fourth day of Janathon .
Sunday is my Curling day. In late October, I registered in "Learn to Curl". Every Sunday from 4-6 pm, I am at the Cataraqui Curling Club, learning to Curl. So far, I like it very much.
 This afternoon, I focused on my delivery and stone accuracy.  Threw 64 practice  rocks .  Yes. thats right 64 stones.

I am tired, thinking i should  have an early night. Good night everyone.

New Years Day 2015 - First day of Janathon

 Very cold  winds and blowing snow. Temperature was - 7C.
Decided to  run early and got my run in around 10:30 am .
It was hard going with the wind and blowing snow.   Slow time, but given the weather conditions  - all is well  and I am pleased.
